Providing Clean Water for a Mangyan Village: A Collaborative Effort Good day, everyone!

The video you’re about to watch highlights a heartwarming project to help our indigenous brothers and sisters, the Eraya Tribe, and their community center. This project is a collaboration between our friends and Sangyaw Philippines, born out of the urgent need for clean water in Sitio Kulapnit, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. We learned that a water hose was previously installed, but it was lost. Now, the community is being charged 10 pesos per gallon of water – a significant price for people with limited income. This is simply not sustainable. Our plan is to create a water system that brings clean water directly from the source to the community center and nearby areas, completely free of charge. Praise the Lord! We need 500 meters of 3/4 size hose for this project. With the help of our kind District Pastor, Dexter Tolentino, we discovered that a 150-meter roll costs P3,750. That means 500 meters would cost around P15,000. We are incredibly grateful to God for those who have already stepped up to support this initiative. Our friends at the Magnot SDA Church have generously pledged to provide food for the volunteers who will be helping to install the water system. Let’s all pray for the success of this project, as we have many more villages to help. In future videos, you’ll see the community coming together to install the hose. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. May God continue to bless you abundantly. As the Bible says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2) Let’s continue to help one another and lighten the load of those in need.

Water for a Mangyan Village: A Story of Hope and Partnership

Last year, we visited the Mangyan community in Sitio Kulapnit, Brgy. Magnot, Occidental Mindoro, to understand their struggles. We learned that they were being charged ten pesos per gallon of water by the private sector – a hefty price for an indigenous community with limited income.
Determined to help, we worked alongside the tribal elders to locate a nearby water source. Praise the Lord, they found a stream! We then surveyed the area, calculating the length of hose needed to bring water to the community. We prayed for a sponsor to help us purchase the materials and, miraculously, one of our followers on Sangyaw Philippines answered our prayer, sending us exactly the amount we needed.
Today, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Mangyan community has access to clean water. They can now wash their clothes, take showers, and even start planting vegetables without worry.
But our work isn’t finished. Our next project is to build a house of worship for them. We’re incredibly grateful to the generous individual in Sitio Kulapnit who donated land for a temporary worship space. A huge thank you to Pastor Dexter Tolentino for leading this project and for involving our church members in bringing the materials to the community.
We invite you to join us on this journey of hope and service. If you’re passionate about making a difference and willing to step out in faith, we welcome you to our team.

Bringing Clean Water to Upper Tala, Negros Occidental: A Community Effort

Nestled in the hills of Upper Tala, Culipapa, Negros Occidental, this remote community faces a significant challenge: their water source is located far away. The journey to Upper Tala is challenging, especially during the rainy season when the roads become muddy and slippery. Larger vehicles are usually the only ones that can navigate the terrain. However, the dry season offers a window of opportunity to begin construction projects, like building homes or other structures.

This community’s prayers for a reliable water system have been answered. The project will bring them closer to having clean, accessible water, allowing them to engage in essential activities like preparing food, making hollow blocks, watering plants, and even starting their own gardens for a fresh source of vegetables.

A Collaborative Effort:

A model for the water system has been designed, ensuring a consistent supply of water. Along with the church’s head elder, we surveyed the area to identify a potential water source that can also be used to supply the church.

One Saturday, a meeting was held with the church leaders in Upper Tala to discuss the Zone 2 Fellowship, which will take place on April 20, 2024, at the Upper Tala church. An estimated 300-400 people from seven churches are expected to attend.

Exciting Progress:

We’re excited to announce that we’ve already received generous support, allowing us to purchase two drums to store water. These will be raised to a higher level for better access. We immediately contacted Elder Jimmy Zeta Cambarijan, the church elder, to purchase the drums. According to him, it was a huge blessing that they were still available as they were selling out quickly.

The images you see are from our procurement of materials for the water system project. Working with the head Elder and 2nd Elder of the Culipapa SDA Church, we have purchased a 4.5 hp Engine, 300 meters of 1/2 pipe, two drums (with two more to purchase), a power spray, fittings, and other necessary items. While some items still need to be acquired, the majority of the essential purchases are in place. We are confident that the remaining funds will arrive at the right time.

Thank you to the Culipapa SDA Church for your partnership. God bless you!

We are also deeply grateful to our faithful partners for every project we launch to aid the community. Water is truly essential in any area, so this project will greatly benefit many. May you be blessed even more by the Almighty so we can help more people in need.

A Celebration of God’s Provision:

The Zone 2 of the Hinobaan district is celebrating their fellowship in Upper Tala, Culipapa, Negros Occidental. It’s a joyous occasion filled with gratitude, as this community now has access to abundant water.

In the past, worshippers here faced a struggle for water, carrying heavy buckets and drums from a distant spring. But God has answered their prayers, touching the hearts of those with resources to provide this vital water system. This new system marks a significant development for the church, making it a beacon of hope for the community.

We are deeply grateful for the tireless efforts of the Culipapa SDA Church brethren who made this project a reality. Special thanks to Bro. Adin Lendio for identifying the right people to make this happen, and to Bro. Jimmy Zeta Cambarijan for leading the church to achieve this incredible feat. We also extend our gratitude to our faithful partners who consistently support our community initiatives.
